Adriana Evans
Adriana Evans comes from a very
stong musical background. Her mother, Mary Stallings, spent some time on stage, singing behind
such jazz greats as Dizzy Gillespie and Count Basie, with the addition of having legendary
saxophonist Pharoah Sanders as her godfather. Born and raised in San Francisco, her childhood
and teenage years were colored by the intense musical scene of the city during that time.
Leaving San Francisco at the age of 18 she moved to Los Angeles to attend college. It
was there where she met producer/collaborator Dred Scott and went onto provide guest vocals on
his 1993 underground hit, "Check The Vibe," which was released on his "Breaking Combs"
album. Adriana Evans' self-titled debut was rleased in 1997.
A gifted
singer/songwriter blessed with a voice and style reminiscent of the late, great Minnie
Ripperton, Evans' songs evoke a range of emotions, blending the sounds of soul, hip hop, and
jazz. In 2004 she returned with the independent release "Nomadic'. An album with remixes and
new tracks 'Kismet' was released in in 2005.
